Annapurna Base Camp (ABC)
A 7-10 day trek that climbs through rhododendron forests and Gurung villages straight to the amphitheater of peaks surrounding Annapurna Base Camp (4,130m). Shorter, less strenuous, and doesn't require crossing a high pass.
Annapurna Circuit
A 12-18 day classic that circles the entire Annapurna massif, crossing the dramatic Thorong La Pass (5,416m) and descending into the arid, Tibetan-influenced landscape of Mustang. More varied terrain and culture, but longer and more demanding.
Which Should You Choose?
- Short on time? ABC fits comfortably into a 10-day trip including travel days.
- Want landscape variety? The Circuit swings from subtropical forest to high desert in one trek.
- New to high altitude? ABC's lower maximum elevation is gentler for first-timers.
- Chasing a bigger challenge? Thorong La Pass on the Circuit is a genuine high-altitude achievement.
Both routes are teahouse treks with comfortable lodges along the way. Browse our Annapurna packages to compare full itineraries.

This is exactly the info I needed before my trek β thank you!
Well written! I'd add that hiring a local guide makes a huge difference too.
Loved reading this, can't wait to experience Nepal myself.
